MN: a day in the life: HinA MAtSUri

HinA MAtSUri

Tonite was an impromptu gathering of some female folk. I wasn't planning on doing anything except catching up on some English coursework and sleep....but these ladies twisted my arm/er...rather just showed up on my doorstep with homemade pizza in hand (who can say no to that?) ;) Met a couple new faces- Ayako is hiding behind the wine glasses she emptied in record time and center stage is Yuko (both are somehow affiliated with one of the elementary schools I frequent every 3 months.) Of course Manami, Hatsumi and Junko--the usual suspects--were on hand for the ritualistic imbibing. Laura made a surprise appearance, it's been all of 3 months, since I've seen her and she lives only 4 minutes away on foot.
Celebrating our womanhood together, on this special "Girl's Day (or Hina Matsuri), was empowering and memorable. Our sometimes silly japanglish conversation is so entertaining. Of course anything is going to seem better than deciphering aspirations from nasalizations and transcribing orthographic phrases.
The next hangout = karaoke. See you when I get back in late March.
Oysaumi nasai! Anne.
