Sendai's TANABATA festival!

TANABATA FESTIVAL: Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture
thanks for a great trip sasaki's!
the tanabata festival is an old love story...in which two lovers can meet in the heavens above only one time each year, because the Milky Way impedes them from getting together. the beautifully decorated streamers are hung from the rafters in outdoor markets and malls....representing the Milky Way. the streamers are made of Japanese paper, so they look like they are floating when a breeze comes through. Sendai's tanabata festival is the biggest of its kind in Japan. These streamers line the streets for some 5 KM through Sendai...the amount of work and craftsmanship with these is incredible.
Many streamers span nearly floor to ceiling...
making it a surreal paper playground for kids -----and adults alike!
At nite the Tanabata are so beautiful...their brite colors dancing in the sky.
Great trip Sasaki's! Thank you for bringing me!
I had a great time with you! Thanks for the memories!
