MN: a day in the life: beach bums

beach bums

I don't want to jinx it, but we've had 4 consecutive days of NO rain...so maybe the rainy season is finished? Wish I could understand the weather forecast to verify this prediction. Today was the first day of heat in Taneichi. It was probably only about 75', but the mugginess was a hint of what's to come in the next weeks of summer. The entire school walked down to the beach to do garbage pickup this afternoon. With the big uni-festival set for this weekend, we made an attempt to beautify the place. Obviously from the pictures below, you can see how little 'cleaning' really happened. I only have 3 days left with these students, and they only have 6 days left before summer vacation, so 'cleaning' just isn't a priority! These kids have been riding the summer slide for over a month now, and I don't blame them for wanting a break! Keep on, keepin' on!
Yuki has the most beautiful smile!
Yoshikazu & Yuta. These are the MOST Americanesque students I have. It's kinda a treat to see some crazyspazzyADHD kids in class. I mean with the monotony of the classes, it really is unbelievable more students don't act up. Thanks to these guys' antics, my theory about this 'teaching' style not working for everyone is validated.
Kyoko: Thanks for all the emails this year. Your English is great! I hope you can do a homestay in Minnesota someday...I'll miss you!
